Hello readers. How are you? Did you have a nice half-term?
My half term was very very nice, in fact, because I went to Jamaica on a Beaches holiday.
We actually went to two places to review them and they were Beaches Ocho Rios and Beaches Negril. These are both luxury resorts on Jamaica and I had a wonderful time. Here are my 10 favourite things about our holiday in Jamaica:
Scuba Diving
My number one thing about my holiday was becoming a certified Scuba diver. At Beaches you can go on a course to learn to scuba dive if you are ten years old, and if you like it, then you can do more dives on your holiday and earn your PADI card which means you can dive all over the world if you want to.
Learning to scuba dive isn’t hard, but there is a lot to learn. You have to remember NEVER to hold your breath in case your oxygen explodes, and you have to do tests like taking off your mask and finding it again, and sharing your oxygen with someone else. You also have to learn to set up all your kit before you go out to sea, and take it apart when you get back to shore.
My instructor was really friendly and made me laugh a lot so I wasn’t scared but the first time I got into the water with my big tank I was a bit terrified! I soon got over it though. And diving is brilliant. I held a sea cucumber and urchins and all sorts of things.
Water Parks
All Beaches hotels have water parks and this is a very good reason why you should go there. At Ocho Rios the water park is the best, it has seven slides and the red one was my favourite, it goes sooooo fast. At Negril I really liked the lazy river and the big chair you sit on and a giant bucket is emptied over you with a big SPLASH!!!
The Beach
If you read my blog you will know that I love the beach and the beach at Beaches is great!! They have these sort of round trampolines in the middle of the sea and you can climb up and jump off them which is really fun. Also you can do pretty much any water sport you like here, all for free. We tried paddle boarding and kayaking and we also went on a banana boat and one of those inflatable seats that gets pulled behind a boat. IT was awesome but it didn’t go fast enough!
Jamaican food
Seriously at Beaches you can eat whenever you want. There are about 10 restaurants and they are open at all different times. I liked the watermelon at breakfast and at lunch there were lovely hot dogs and spicy jerk chicken. But best of all for me was the snack stand where you could help yourself to FREE NACHOS!! You can get a drink at the swim up bar if you are thirsty and you can have cocktails. They dont have alcohol in though don’t worry!
Our Room
Every room at Beaches comes with its own X-Box and games. How cool is that? Our room also had a beautiful balcony where you could watch the sea in the morning, and a flatscreen TV with lots of good channels.
The beds are really comfy and there is a fridge with fruit punch that is free, and you get new drinks every day. When you are bored in your room you can also go to the kids club and the x-box lounge that has loads of x-boxes to play and other kids you can play with, or you can play with your Mum like I did! I won of course!!
I have told my Mum that I want to go back to Beaches next year and especially to do lots and lots more scuba diving!!!
I think I should give it a shot!
