The Vamps Live in Birmingham!

in Kid Life on 05/18/15

Earlier this year, my Mum managed to get tickets to see The Vamps live in Birmingham.

I quite liked The Vamps but I didn’t know all of their songs. Of the songs I knew my favourite one was definitely Last Night.

I was allowed to take a friend, so I invited my bestie and we went to the arena with my Mum last week. I downloaded the Vamps album onto my iPhone and we listened to it in the car on the way, so we would know more of the songs.

By the time we arrived, we were pretty excited. We went into the hospitality area and we all had the most amazing burgers. They came with cheese and guacamole and salsa and bacon and onion rings all inside the burger. I just had cheese and onion rings but it was still the biggest burger I have ever seen. I was the only one who ate the whole thing!

After a quick Coke, it was time for us to go in. We saw a little bit of The Tide, who were the first support act to play. The crowd REALLY liked them!

Next up it was Union J. I didn’t know any of their songs but it was a lot of fun and the music was really loud. Even if you don’t know the words you can really sing along in the chorus bits.

Some things that surprised me. There were SO many people there – 13,000 people. Mum lent me her iPhone so I could wave the torch around during the slow songs. And during the fast songs we jumped up and down.

There was an interval after Union J and I bought a t-shirt. It was also a chance to recover from all the loud noise. People scream a lot at concerts, let me tell you!

After the interval, we went back to our seats and The Vamps came on stage.

It was brilliant. If I was giving the concert a score it would be 11 out of 10. Maybe even more than that!

There were lots of songs by other bands, and the Vamps songs from the albums. I didn’t know all the words but it didn’t matter. Me and my bestie danced and screamed really loud and sang the songs we knew, and sort of sang the ones we didn’t even know. It was really hot, but so much fun. I loved the lights and the music.

My funniest moments were:

  • When you could Tweet a photo to try and win a competition to go on stage and me and Zara couldn’t remember our seat numbers in time.
  • When I just jumped up and down and up and down and up and down…. and up and down.
  • When my Mum said you have to scream something at an unexpected quiet moment so she yelled I LOVE YOU CONNOR during a quiet moment, because she only knew Connor’s name.

My favourite thing was the drum solo and I loved singing to Last Night. Also I loved the encore – Mum said bands always play a bit extra if you shout really loud and stamp your feet and it worked – top tip!

I loved seeing The Vamps live, and I am quite excited because I get to see them again next month at an event we’ve been invited to – I’ll let you know more when I can – it’s still a secret!

Below is my vlog of the concert if you want to hear what The Vamps sound like live. The video is a bit wonky because we made it on my phone, but I hope you won’t mind.  Thanks for reading and I’ll be back blogging soooooooon!
