Picture the scene: I was in school and it was just another ordinary day.
We were doing science and we were looking at a video about the volcanoes on YouTube and an advert came up.
Suddenly all the kids were shouting, “It’s Flea!!!”
And it was. Although Sir didn’t recognise me, which I thought was strange.
In fact, I was in a YouTube commercial and here is what happened.
A few weeks before, we were invited by Visit Wales to go and spend the day being a zoo keeper at Folly Farm. That is in Wales, near to Cardiff.
We drove down the night before and stayed with my Mum’s friend Ruth. Then early in the morning we went to Folly Farm. It was very cold!
We met the camera crew and they followed me around the farm while I was a zoo keeper. The jobs I had to do included feeding penguins with icky fish that stank and bits of guts kept falling out of them. That was pretty awesome. And gross.
I also had to do things like feed the giraffes, who have really long and scratchy tongues. They are surprisingly slobbery!
My favourite thing was seeing the lions, they are enormous and very magnificent.
When you are being filmed for a commercial you have to do things 500 million times and try and remember to answer questions in a funny way. So the director asks you what something feels like, and you can’t say “slobber” you have to say, “This giraffe tongue feels really slobbery!” so it makes sense when they edit the film together.
We had a great day at Folly Farm, there are lots of animals there and my favourites were the lions, giraffes and the meerkats. But there is lots of other stuff to do there – you can milk goats in the farm and play in the indoor play area which is enormahoosive!
I am really pleased with our commercial and our film. Here it is. Don’t forget to subscribe to me on YouTube!
