The Anthem of the Seas is brand new and we got to cruise from Southampton around the Isle of Wight.
I thought the ship was huge!! There was a lot to do, and the cabins are spacious and nice. Here are my five favourite things for kids to do on Anthem of the Seas (even though there are so many more things than that)
SeaPlex is a place for hanging out, you can do circus training, bumper cars, there’s an X-Box lounge, air hockey and you can even rollerskate as well. It is an action-packed disco atmosphere and there is even a hot dog bar, with lots of different sort of sausages, like German, regular, smoke-house, grill. Can you tell I like sausages?
2. Flow Rider
Flow Rider is a surf simulator on the back of the ship with an amazing view. I’ve been on it before, and the Flow Rider means you can body board as though you are really surfing. It is hard, fun, wet and Cold! You have to do it! The water is a lot colder than you think though so bring a wet suit or have a towel to cuddle in to when you get out.
This is a skydiving ride. It’s a blast of air in a wind tunnel and you can do somersaults. You have to wear a jumpsuit, ear plugs, goggles and a helmet and then you have to sort of fall into the tunnel with your arms and legs bent, and the air pushes you up so it’s just like you’re skydiving. It feels like flying! But it’s quite hard to breathe out because the air is pushing against your face.
4. Free arcade
Everybody loves arcades, don’t they? Arcades are one of life’s great joys and this one particularly because it’s free. There’s a motorcycle ride and a helicopter simulator where you have to get in and it closes and you have to control the helicopter. It is very loud and it rocks. To get a free game all you have to do is press your fingers against the machine and it turns on and you can play – YAY!!!!
5. The Pools
The pools on Anthem of the Seas are wonderful – jacuzzis, hot pools, lazy rivers, whirlpools, indoor pools, outdoor pools, H20 zone pools (a kids’ wave pool and splash area). They are all in the middle of the ship on Deck 14. Personally, I thought the indoor pool was a lot warmer and there’s a cafe next to it. There’s a sky bar next to the outdoor pool, too.
Actually, I can’t limit myself to just five things so here is the sixth awesome thing about Anthem of the Seas – Johnny Rockets!
6. Johnny Rockets
In all my words, I cannot describe the wonderfulness of Johnny Rockets – the best creamy vanilla milkshake and the best burgers. My favourite was the Smokehouse which has onion rings inside it. Who’s ever heard of a burger with onion rings inside? Me! On Anthem of the Seas.
Thanks very much to Royal Caribbean for inviting me onto the ship. If you watch my YouTube videos, you’ll already have seen my video tour of the ship, but just in case you have missed out here it is:
